Orvis Fly Fishing Expeditions
Part of being an Orvis Endorsed Expedition
means that we use the finest Orvis fly fishing equipment. Our guides choose to
carry Orvis equipment on their boats not because it is mandatory, but because
they know it performs and holds up when tested against the harsh conditions and the large, hard fighting
sport fish of our Alaskan rivers. Having the proper Rod-Reel-line
combination can be the difference
between landing that 30 inch Rainbow Trout or not. Our lodges and camps are
well stocked with Orvis top of the line fly fishing rods and reels of all sizes
but most clients choose to bring their own Orvis waders and wading jackets.
Orvis Fly Fishing equipment
The sport
of fly fishing is not all about catching fish, or even casting a beautiful loop
through the air, for many of us it’s all about the equipment. Fly fishing is a
sport of the elements and every fly fishing situation is going to be different
and therefore need different equipment. The other part of the equation is that
each person is physically different, casts different, fights fish different, and
looks at the world through different eyes. This means that one angler may like
a slow action rod over a fast action rod, weight forward line vs. tapered, or
amber lenses vs. a grey lenses.
Orvis Fly fishing equipment from your local stores
We can suggest certain Orvis equipment but when it comes
down to it, you have to decide for yourself what works best for your style. We
suggest going to your local Orvis dealer and actually casting a rod and trying
things on before buying them. The following fly
shops host fly fishing trips to Alaska Adventures and if your looking to
join one of there trips or just good local information or top of the line
fly fishing equipment and local destination fishing please give them a call
